In select cases, though, a client's loss history, risk profile, or appetite for an exclusive total-account solution calls for something beyond our core lineup. When that happens, we'll quietly bring additional carrier options to the table alongside Flex and Classic so the conversation stays focused on the right outcome, not the nearest product. The goal is always the same: put every client in the coverage that genuinely fits, even when the best answer sits outside our own shelf.

You'll see pricing on both WAX Flex™ and WAX Classic™ so you can choose the product that fits, then bind immediately unless further review is required for discounts.

How do I determine the value of my collection?

When does my coverage start, and when do my policy documents arrive?

Your policy issues instantly. Coverage is in force the moment your payment clears at bind, and your scheduled items appear right away in the WAX app under My Collection. The only time it won't issue instantly is if we require a signature on a disclosure or application; in that case, the policy issues as soon as the insured completes the signature. This applies to both WAX Flex™ and WAX Classic™.

How do I cancel a WAX policy?

Accepted Answer

WAX policies can be cancelled at any time. Refunds are pro-rated based on the unused portion of the term, less any earned premium. Before cancelling, our service team will often suggest a quick adjustment in WAX Flex™. Lowering coverage, removing an endorsement you don't use, or adjusting the category mix, or, if you'd prefer every protection on by default, a switch to WAX Classic™. To start the process, open a chat with Wesley or email vip@waxcollect.com with your policy number. Cancellations can also be completed in the WAX app.

What if I forgot my password or the WAX app isn't working?

Open the WAX app and tap 'Forgot password' on the login screen, a reset email will arrive within a few minutes from no-reply@waxcollect.com (check spam if you don't see it). For app crashes, login issues, or anything that isn't working as expected, message Wesley with your email and device type, or contact vip@waxcollect.com and our product team will follow up directly.

What does a WAX policy cover?

Every WAX policy. Flex and Classic. Is underwritten by AM Best A+ (Superior) rated carrier partners and features worldwide coverage with no deductible (standard in most states; California and other catastrophe-exposed regions may carry a deductible per carrier underwriting guidelines), comprehensive protection from fire, theft, earthquake, flood, and accidental breakage, liberal appraisal requirements, easy quoting through the mobile app, top-tier claims service, and up to 150% market appreciation protection. Newly acquired items are automatically covered in any category where you already have itemized articles scheduled, up to 25% of your total itemized coverage in that category. WAX Classic™ includes Mysterious Disappearance, Checked Baggage, and Unattended Auto as standard; on WAX Flex™, Checked Baggage and Unattended Auto are optional add-ons and Mysterious Disappearance is not available.

Is Mysterious Disappearance covered?

Accepted Answer

Mysterious Disappearance is included as standard on WAX Classic™. It is not available on WAX Flex™. If Mysterious Disappearance is important to how you want your collection covered, WAX Classic™ is the right product, and both products are quoted from the same submission.

What's the difference in claims payout between WAX Flex™ and WAX Classic™?

Both products are agreed-value: you set the scheduled value at bind and that's the basis for your claim. WAX Flex™ lets you choose your claims payout range, 100%, 125%, or 150% of agreed value, subject to the class limit, so you only pay for the market-appreciation protection you actually want. WAX Classic™ is locked at the maximum 150% payout. Same $0 deductible, same agreed-value model on both.

How does automatic coverage for newly acquired articles work?

Accepted Answer

If you already have itemized valuable articles scheduled in a given category, any newly acquired articles in that same category are automatically covered, up to a combined 25% of your total itemized coverage in that category. The article must be otherwise eligible for coverage under your policy.

To keep that coverage in force beyond the automatic window, you must request coverage for the newly acquired article within 90 days of acquiring it and pay the additional premium back to the date you acquired it. After day 90, WAX and the carrier reserve the right to decline to insure the article, even if it would otherwise be eligible. Note: if you don't already have items scheduled in that category, the automatic 25% does not apply, you'll need to schedule the item before coverage begins. This applies to both WAX Flex™ and WAX Classic™.

Am I covered if I travel?

Yes, every WAX policy protects against theft and accidental damage while traveling worldwide. On WAX Classic™, Checked Baggage and Unattended Auto are included as standard. On WAX Flex™, both are optional add-ons you can include or drop based on how you collect, with the premium adjusting accordingly. Mysterious Disappearance, relevant to many travel-related losses, is standard on WAX Classic™ and not available on WAX Flex™.

What if the market value of an item changes while it's already insured?

You can update the item's value directly in the WAX app to trigger an endorsement and adjust your premium to the new value. On WAX Classic™, and on WAX Flex™ when you've selected a claims payout greater than 100%, your policy already includes market appreciation coverage up to that cap, subject to your category limit. For our commercial products, we operate carrier-agnostically, holding appointments across all major markets relevant to luxury assets and collectibles to ensure precise placement for each risk profile.

Does WAX really have a $0 deductible everywhere?

Both WAX Flex™ and WAX Classic™ are written with a $0 deductible across the majority of U.S. states. In limited cases, most notably California risk zones with elevated catastrophe exposure such as wildfire, carrier underwriting guidelines may require a deductible on certain perils or locations. If that applies to your address, it'll be disclosed transparently before you bind coverage. Everywhere else, $0 stays $0.

How do I file a claim?

Visit Claims within the WAX app, select the item(s) subject to claim, and provide a detailed description of the incident. A member of our team will reach out to verify your information before submitting your claim to the carrier. The carrier adjuster will contact you to gather additional documentation as needed. Once finalized, you'll receive a cash settlement for the agreed value of your item(s). The process is the same on WAX Flex™ and WAX Classic™.

WAX Flex™ is written on surplus lines (also called non-admitted) paper, and that's actually a good thing. Surplus-lines insurers are specialty markets that exist specifically to cover what the standard market can't or won't: high-value, unique, and hard-to-replace items. They're fully licensed and regulated, just not filed in your state the same way as admitted carriers, which means a Flex policy isn't backed by your state's guaranty fund. If you'd prefer admitted paper, WAX Classic™ is our admitted product and is quoted from the same submission. Either way, the carrier behind your policy is AM Best A+ (Superior) rated.

Why is my collectible insured on a surplus lines basis?

Because your collection deserves coverage built for it. High-value and specialized collectibles often require coverage that the admitted market isn't built to provide line-by-line, so WAX Flex™ uses a surplus-lines carrier partner that specializes in exactly these risks. The result is broader, more tailored protection designed around what collectors actually own. Collectors who want admitted paper with every protection on as standard can choose WAX Classic™ instead.

What are the taxes and fees on my surplus lines premium?

WAX Flex™ policies include state-mandated surplus-lines taxes, stamping fees, and in some states municipal taxes, but even with these added, collectors consistently pay less on Flex than they would under a standard valuable articles policy with inferior coverage. These fees are set by your state, not WAX, and every line item is clearly broken out so you know exactly what you're paying and why. WAX Classic™ is admitted and is not subject to surplus-lines taxes or stamping fees.

Is my collectible still protected if the insurer is surplus lines?

Absolutely, and in most cases, better protected. Surplus-lines carriers are held to rigorous financial strength standards, and WAX only places coverage with established, highly rated markets. The claims process works the same way as an admitted policy, and your protection isn't diminished in any way by the surplus-lines designation. If you'd specifically prefer admitted paper, WAX Classic™ is available.

What is a state guaranty fund, and why doesn't it apply to my WAX Flex™ policy?

A state guaranty fund is a backstop that pays claims if an admitted insurer goes insolvent. Surplus-lines carriers, including the carrier partner behind WAX Flex™, operate outside that system, but that's not the exposure it might sound like. WAX places Flex coverage exclusively with an AM Best A+ (Superior) rated carrier whose financial strength makes the guaranty fund largely irrelevant in practice. If guaranty-fund participation matters to you, WAX Classic™ is our admitted product and participates accordingly.
