Musical Instruments, Insured the Way Collectors Actually Own Them.
You spent years developing an ear for what matters. You should have insurance that listens.

You know that a 1959 Les Paul Standard isn't just a guitar, it's a document. You know that a pre-war Martin 000-45 played by the right hands tells a story through its wear that no description can fully capture. You've had opinions about Brazilian rosewood grain, nitrocellulose lacquer aging, and the precise difference in resonance between an all-original example and one with a repaired headstock. Whether you're a player-collector, a strict conservationist, or somewhere in the beautiful middle, WAX Collect speaks your language, and protects what you've spent years building.
The full frequency range of coverage
WAX Collect covers theft, accidental damage, fire, flooding, worldwide travel, and pets. Accidental damage matters enormously in an instrument collection, a knocked stand, a dropped case, a humidity event, a repair gone wrong. All covered.
Pets, too. A curious cat and a lightly cased vintage banjo share a well-documented adversarial relationship.
That's the foundation. WAX Flex™ is where you tune the rest.
Lever one, the pedalboard of your policy
Think of these two optional coverages as pedals on your board. Some players run a full chain. Some run nothing but the amp. WAX Flex™ lets you configure exactly what you need.
Checked Baggage Coverage
Protects instruments lost or damaged through airline baggage handling. This one has a complicated history. If your vintage instruments travel in their own seat or are professionally shipped, you don't need it. If you're in the subset of collectors who occasionally checks a hard case on a domestic flight, toggle it on.
Unattended Auto Coverage
Covers pieces in an unattended vehicle. You've done the gear run. You know the scenario. Toggle it on if your instruments move through that kind of environment. Toggle it off and save the premium if they don't.
Want Mysterious Disappearance? It's included as standard on WAX Classic™.
Lever two: Choose your output level
Traditional collectibles insurers lock every policy at 150% agreed value, which means you're paying for vintage guitar market appreciation coverage whether your collection includes a '59 burst or a matched pair of mid-'70s silverfaces.
WAX Flex™ gives you three settings:
100%. Agreed value. Right for instruments where the value is established, stable, and well-documented. Modern custom shop work, properly valued vintage pieces where you're protecting against loss rather than market appreciation.
125%. Up to 125% above agreed value. Subject to the class limit. For instruments where modest appreciation is expected and documented, a mid-'60s archtop gaining attention, a small-builder boutique instrument from a maker whose reputation has grown since acquisition.
150%. Full market appreciation protection. For pre-CBS Strats, first-year Les Paul Standards, pre-war parlor guitars with full original cases, collector-grade vintage Fenders with clean numbers. If your acquisition cost from five years ago is already materially below today's comp, 150% is the responsible setting.
A 1952 Telecaster and a 2015 production Telecaster are not the same insurance conversation. WAX Flex™ lets you treat them accordingly.
Lever three, the ensemble rate
Instrument collectors often collect adjacent things. Amplifiers, effects, recording equipment, memorabilia, music-related ephemera and signed pieces. WAX Flex™ rewards the collector who brings multiple categories to one platform.
One category: base rate. Two: automatic discount. Three: greater automatic discount. No calls. No broker. The savings are built in.
The spec sheet
- Agreed value, guaranteed. Established through appraisals, auction comps, dealer valuations, and documentation. At total loss, that's the number you receive, not a depreciation estimate from someone who has never handled a vintage instrument.
- $0 deductible in most U.S. states. Losing a '59 burst is already the worst day of your collecting life.
- 90 days of newly acquired coverage. Closed on a rare original from a private estate? Covered automatically for 90 days from the moment it's yours.
- Worldwide coverage. Nashville, Tokyo, London, Berlin. Covered anywhere your collection or touring schedule takes you.
- Claims via the WAX app. Simple and direct.
- AM Best A+ (Superior) rated carrier partners with decades of experience and a track record of saying yes.
WAX Collect. Built for serious instrument collectors who already know what they have.
